Our story
Hi, I’m Mikaylah — a wife to my incredible husband and mama to two-under-two who are the inspiration behind everything I create. My crochet journey began with them, making cuddly snugglers to help them enjoy their naps and bedtime routine.
However, after seeing family members and friends go through traumatic NICU experiences, I wanted to support them and other new parents any way I could. That is the heartbeat behind Lulu & Baby. Many NICU Mamas struggle to form that deep bond with their NICU babies, due to the lack of skin-on-skin time.
If you can't hold your baby, what if something else that smells like you, can? I began crocheting these beautiful Ollie Octopuses that smell like you and can cuddle your baby, fostering connection between you and your little one in the NICU and at Home.
Our Ollies will become the toy that your babies will reach for when they need comfort and calm. These are medically proven to lower infant heart-rates and improve respiration. The tentacles mimic the umbilical cord, reminding baby of the safest place they’ve ever known: Your belly.
My own kids love Ollie, my daughter takes her Ollie Pacifier holder everywhere. It’s great for long car rides, shopping trips and lounge time, when you need a break.
What started as simple gifts for my own babies quickly grew into something more—loveys for friends, family, and now, for your littles as well. It brings me so much joy to share that handmade magic with as many little ones as possible. Each piece is made with love, care, and the hope that it brings comfort, smiles, and a touch of playfulness to your child’s world.
Sourced with care
Each of our loveys is hand-crocheted by me, using premium yarns. All our toys are made with soft and cozy blanket yarn. All yarn has been Oeko-tex certified, and has been tested for over 350 harmful substances by independent laboratories, and certified NOT to contain harmful levels of irritants, allergens or carcinogens. and is suitable for direct contact with the most sensitive skin, including babies and small children.
“ [My baby] loves holding on to the tentacles! Especially when we’re at his specialists!”
